The article analyzes the views on the assessment of territory suitability for human life. The analysis of methodological approaches used in contemporary research has made it possible to formulate the structure and the algorithm of ecological and geomorphological territory assessment as well as to define the criteria for selecting indicators of a complex territory assessment.
