The article centers on the current state of higher education in Latin America and its historical and cultural peculiarities, which are predetermined by social–economic factors of the development of the area, by national identification and the perspectives of internationalization and integration at the sub–regional, regional, territorial, and global levels. Speaking about the development perspectives of Latin America’s higher education, one can say that the area has considerable education potential. Latin America’s active participation in integration means that more and more countries will be able to modernize their higher education.
