V.I. Sreznevsky’s contribution to Russian research, education and physical culture. P. 50-64.

The paper focuses on an outstanding Russian researcher, educator and physical culture expert of the late 19^th – early 20^th centuries, the first president of the Russian Olympic Committee, one of the organizers of the Olympic Movement, Vyacheslav Izmailovich Sreznevsky. The paper deals with the history of development of Russian research, education, physical culture and sports. It also treats the role of investigation in Museum pedagogy of a university museum.

Relying on archival data, the paper analyzes the researcher’s biography in a systemic and coherent way. It enumerates some great achievements of this representative of a renowned Russian dynasty with a long family tradition. It also provides information about some cultural events dedicated to the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
