The author considers the signs, symbols and other elements are included in the semiotic mechanism of formation of city patriotism, analyzes the impact of the signs and symbols of the city on the minds of the inhabitants, the role of the architectural symbols, the city plan-ning, holidays, museums, local history studies in the consolidation of the citizens and their per-ception of the urban space.
