Abstract. The article examines poetic parallels in the works of S. A. Yesenin and I. N. Knorring. Intertextual connections in the poetic heritage of two poets are analyzed in terms of their personal destinies. Knorring and Yesenin were representatives of the generation born at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, and the lives of both poets were tragically influenced by the events that took place in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century: the revolution of 1917 and the subsequent Civil War. Knorring left Russia in 1920, and Yesenin remained in his homeland, but for both poets the revolution of 1917 became a key event in their life path. Both poets sought to rework the experience of external events in artistic form. In addition to the direct appeal to Yesenin’s memory and creativity in Knorring’s poems, many similar motifs and creative techniques are found that bring Knorring’s poetry closer to Yesenin’s poetry. Both poets often use the same verse meter and cross rhymes that are similar in form. Similar stylistic devices and ways of creating the emotional mood of the work, such as lexical repetitions, are also found. The figurative world of Knorring’s poems often resembles images from Yesenin’s poems. It should be noted that there is a certain similarity in the content and themes of the poems by Yesenin and Knorring. In some cases, we can talk about intertextual connections as a conscious technique used by Knorring. In other poems, the similarity is due to the poetic perception of tragic events in the outside world and in one’s own life.
Keywords: emigration of the first wave, literature of the Russian diaspora, poetry of Irina Knorring, poetry of Sergei Yesenin, imagery of poetry, stylistic devices, intertextual connections.
