The article centers on the work of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum, which took place in New Zealand. The main topic on the agenda was admitting new members, Russia among them, and announcing a moratorium on accepting new members. The article also treats the problem of overcoming the Asian financial crisis which tells on APEC countries.
