Traditions of people’s theatrical laughter culture in V.V. Nabokov ‘s novels “Camera Obscura” and “Lolita”. p. 91-99.

The paper gives an insight into how the traditions of folk comedy and buffoonery are realized in V.V. Nabokov’s Russian novels “Camera Obscura” (originally written in Russian) and “Lolita” (self-translated into Russian). The paper focuses on the characters of Robert Horn and Clare Quilty, in which one can see some traits of a trickster, a clown, a buffoon. The paper also analyzes some comedy devices, for example, wearing a mask.
