The calendar of S.A.Yessenin’s poem «Anna Sneghina». P. 117-124.

The article analyzes one of S.A.Yessenin’s major poems “Anna Sneghina”. It centers on the calendar of the poem. The aim of the research is to find out what calendar is used to calculate the fictional time and to depict the fictional events. The analysis of the poem shows that the fictional reality develops both in historical time and cyclic time, which helps the author to highlight the lyrical and the epical aspects of the text, to create a great number of plotlines, and to reflect the spirit of the time. The use of historical time makes the poem really epic and allows the author to depict wars, losses, and pernicious political processes. The historical timeline serves as the background for the autobiographical character’s life, which develops in cyclic (or seasonal) time. In “Anna Sneghina” as in many other S.A.Yessenin’s works the cyclic time is harmonious and comprises the eternal law of existence. The love story develops where the two times meet.
