The paper treats problems connected with the systematization of methodological terminology in the field of foreign language teaching. The analysis of current trends in methodological terminology processing allows the author to formulate the main goals of research. The achievement of these goals reveals significant characteristics of the categorical apparatus of methodology. It establishes a unanimous approach to the selection of major methodological concepts and the principles of their definition. It results in a unified system of methodological terms which secure description of the existing approaches to foreign language teaching and ensure description of the development of theoretical and practical methodology.
