A.D. Tolkachev: military intelligence specialist — translator — teacher — scholar. P.79-86.

Aleksander Dmitryevich Tolkachev, a veteran of World War II, a holder of two Orders of Glory and many other awards, participated in World War II in 1942–1945. With Russian troops he crossed Europe to free Ukraine, Poland, and Belorussia and reached Berlin. He was a military intelligence specialist and a commander. After the war A.D. Tolkachev stayed in Germany to teach officers’ children and returned to Russia in 1947. He graduated from the Department of Translation and Interpreting of Moscow State Institute of Foreign Languages (now known as Moscow State Linguistic University) and devoted his entire life to Ryazan State Institute where he worked for 42 years. One can hardly overestimate A.D. Tolkachev’s contribution to the development of the Department of Foreign Languages as a teacher, a scholar, Dean and Head of Department.
