In the article the historical reconstruction of the first stage of origin and development of institute of educator of class is produced in general schools of Russia. On the basis of analysis of normative documents, historical researches and archived sources of record offices Нижего-родской and Ryazan areas authors draw conclusion about reasons of origin of this institute and about gradual reduction of his supervisory functions and strengthening of functions an educator. On the example of certain facts the first experience of organization of purposeful educator work is described in the masculine and woman gymnasia of Russia.
