Text categories of modality and temporality in an internet meme as a creolized text. P. 79-86.

The paper treats modality and temporality as text categories of an internet meme, which serves as a sample of modern creolized text. The paper analyzes English internet memes that are an essential part of English internet communication. The text category of modality of an internet meme does not only have linguistic expression but also extra linguistic (non-verbal) expression. An internet meme usually has several levels of modality, some of which are verbal, while others are non-verbal. Another peculiarity of modality as a text category of an internet meme is its excessive display. The text category of temporality also has some peculiar features, accounted for by the genre characteristics of an internet meme. Most internet memes are not temporarily marked. There are several time aspects in an internet meme, these aspects can overlap or oppose one another. The text category of temporality of an internet meme can have both verbal and non-verbal expressions. The analysis shows that the text categories of temporality and modality of an internet meme have certain characteristic features typical of the genre.
