The paper analyzes the peculiarities of hail forecasting on the example of Armenia. Hail is a dangerous meteorological phenomenon with the potential to cause damage to agriculture. Due to its geographical location and climate, Armenia is often prone to hailstorms. The analysis of 350 cases of hailstorms in the territory of Armenia in 2000–2005 shows that air-mass phenomena cause about 70 % of hailstorms, while the second type of cold front causes about 30 % of hailstorms. A warm front and an occluded front are not associated with hailstorms.
