Submission requirement

Please read these instructions carefully and follow them closely to ensure that the review and publication of your paper is as efficient and quick as possible.

1. Please provide the following.

1.1 An electronic copy of the manuscript on СD-R(RW) or as an e-mail attachment and a printed copy of the manuscript (see formatting guidelines below).

1.2. A cover letter containing the authors’ last names, first names, and patronymics, their academic degrees, their affiliation, their position (specify the department and the university they belong to), their research interests, their specialization (for PhD students), their postal addresses (work and/or home), their e-mails, their telephone numbers. The cover letter should be completed both in Russian and in English (see the sample).

1.3. PhD students must present positive reviews conducted by their supervisors. Note that printed reviews should be scanned and saved in PDF format so that the stamps and the signatures were preserved. If a PhD student submits an article that hasn’t been reviewed by their supervisor, the article is subject to additional reviewing. Collaborative articles written by teams of PhD students and their supervisors are not accepted.

2. Style Guidelines.

2.1. All manuscripts should be thoroughly and accurately proofread and edited. All manuscripts should be formatted in such a way so as to meet the standard conventions of the journal. Files that seem to contain viruses are rejected.

2.2. Please submit your manuscript in Microsoft Word 1997-2003 or RTF formats. Please send us two printed copies. The electronic version of the manuscript should be saved as one file and should include text, abstract, key words (in Russian and in English), formulae, tables, illustrations, references, bibliography. The manuscript should be 12-24 pages long. The cover letter and reviews should be saved as separate files.

2.3. Margin requirements are the following: top margin – 20 mm, bottom margin – 20 mm, right margin – 20 mm, left margin – 30 mm. For the article content use 14 point Times New Roman font style and 1.5 line spacing. Paragraphs should be indented 1.25 cm. Page numbers should be bottom centered. The first page of the manuscript should contain a UDC number. The title of the article, the initials and surname of each author should be followed by the abstract and the key words. The abstract must clearly state the purpose of the research, the results and the conclusions. The abstract should be no more than 150-200 words. The key words should be presented in alphabetical order and in italics. Please provide 5 to 7 key words or short phrases. The key words should not repeat the title but should be present in the abstract and in the text.

2.4 Formulas should be embedded directly into your Word document file with Microsoft Equation, diagrams should be added with Microsoft Excel. All formulae should be thoroughly checked by the author. Illustrations (schemes and diagrams) should be accurate and black-and-white. The resolution of photographs and images (TIF, IPG) should be no less than 300 dpi, the resolution of line art should not be lower than 1200 dpi (see “Unified system for design documentation. Letters for drawings. GOST 2.3.04-81”) Photographs, images, and line drawings should be embedded into your Word document. Please insert a caption 1 cm. below each figure (12 point Times New Roman font). Do not abbreviate. Refer to tables and figures in the following way: Tab. 1, Tab. 2, Fig. 1a, Fig. 2a, etc. All variables in graphics should be italicized. (sample for formulas and pictures)

2.5 All chemical compounds should be named according to IUPAC rules (see http://www.chem.qmul.ac.uk/iupac/). To label some chemical compounds (unless they are in the title or in the abstract) you can use conventional abbreviations. Latin names of plants, animals and other biological objects are italicized. The genus name is capitalized, the species names are minisculed. When mentioning species for the first time, refer to the person who first coined the name. All physical quantities should be in accordance with the International System of Units SI. In decimal fractions use decimal points to distinguish between the whole and the remainder. To indicate breaks within numbers, use a hyphen. When dealing with a negative exponent, use a minus (a hyphen). Mathematical equations should be indented. Number equations using Arabic numerals enclosed in parentheses and positioned flush right along the final baseline of the equation. Latin letters in graphs, charts, equations, tables, and images should be italicized. Greek letters should not be italicized.

2.6. Citing references in order to acknowledge your sources and give credit where credit is due is compulsory to all scientific research papers. Citing references are to be footnoted. The footnotes are to be numbered in sequence. You can’t cite an unpublished work (unless it’s a dissertation). Taking another person’s work without due acknowledgement is forbidden. Use Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.). (see the sample)

2.7. The bibliography is placed at the end of the paper. The sources should be arranged in alphabetical order (see the sample)

2.8. The bibliography should be followed by the author’s last name, the title of the paper, the key words, and the abstract.

2.9. The article must be signed by the author to certify that it has not been published before. If the paper has multiple authors, each of them must sign it. Note that for electronic versions the signature(s) must be scanned and embedded into the text in TIF or IPG formats (see the sample).
