The paper treats Saudi Arabia’s role in US foreign policy in 1939–1941, analyzing US diplomatic documents and American scholars’ research. The paper investigates Washington’s priorities and genuine motives for oil and economic cooperation with Riyadh. The paper analyzes the major tendencies of development of economic contacts between the two countries and investigates the role of US business in the promotion of political and economic cooperation with the oil–producing emirate.
