The article deals with Ch. Dickensʼ, J. Ruskinʼs, and B. Shawʼs views on school reform. It also treats the writersʼ efforts aimed at school improvement. The author analyzes the British writersʼ articles and literary works to investigate their ideas concerning school reform. The analysis shows that the British writersʼ views on school reform are quite similar. The three writers advocate the idea of compulsory education which is available free to all. In their literary works, Ch. Dickens, J. Ruskin, and B. Shaw touch upon urgent issues of education and upbringing. The writers believe that education is the only cure for such social problems as illiteracy, poverty, and crime, which still plague our society.
