A Three-Leaved Rosette as a Symbol of the Holy Trinity  in the Visual Culture of Medieval Europe. P.   49-56.

UDC (003.62:726.5):940.1

The paper focuses on the evolution of symbolic representations of the Trinity. A three-leaved rosette with rotation symmetry is a recognizable element of Gothic temple architecture. The element correlated with the architectural design of Gothic temples. A three-leaved rosette was not a mere element of architectural design it had religious meaning. The rosette design was conceptualized by theologians and painters of the 18th century through the prism of the Athanasian Creed.

Athanasian Creed, Holy Trinity, three-leaved rosette, Gothic rosette, Christian temple, manuscript, The Shield of Faith.
