The paper focuses on the landmark events in Professor Ivan Pavlovich Popov’s life and work. Professor I.P. Popov, Doctor of History, worked in the University in 1950–1996. He worked as a teacher and as an inspector of National Education Association, he participated in World War II and took part in the Victory Parade of 1945. He was one of the first to underline the importance of the liberal movement in revolutionary Russia in 1859–1861.
